This is on a Core 2 Quad 4 x 2. They could have just ported it straight over!!! I'd say that Lightroom is NOT a stand alone editing solution, you are always going to need another editor in order to complete the job. In fact I think I may just go back to Elements Editor, I still use Elements Organiser anyway, as it's hierarchical image organisation is far superior to Lightroom's flat file approach. Adobe should have just put the few good bits there are in Lightroom straight into the Elements Editor and be done with it, no need for yet another product.
There are two major problems with your post. You're holding back all the rest of the system specs you quoted, by starving them of RAM. The thrashing is probably because the system is forced to use virtual memory because you don't have enough RAM.
Second, there IS a perspective distortion tool in Lightroom. It isn't with the Crop tool because the Crop tool is the wrong place for it. I know perspective was a feature of the Crop tool in Photoshop, but it could never correct lens or barrel distortion. They did the same thing in Photoshop the powerful Lens Correction feature separate from the Crop tool and it was the right thing to do.
The Crop tool is only for cropping. No you have misunderstood about the perspective correction. I know ther is a wonderfull lens distortion panel in Lightroom, this can not be used to corect an image for architectural perspective, unlike the tools availible in Elements Editor. The next time you are in the Lens Correction panel, try clicking Manual, look at the Horizontal and Vertical sliders and see if they can't correct keystone perspective corrections what you refer to as "architectural" perspective.
Naturally, it's faster. Overall, if the tools work better for you in Elements and better for your hardware, you should be using Elements. Lightroom is made for the current state of professional raw editing. The differences in speed and stability were amazing and totally worth it.. More than half of my software I could get 64bit version free the 32bit license i paid for works for 64bit as well , and the other half the 32bit worked just fine on 64bit windows.
So net net.. Thanks graybalanced and boramz, I will take a look at your suggestions and maybe make some changes Like far too many Adobe updates, this ACR update caused a little bit of mayhem at my place.
I have never expressed any interest whatsoever in Photoshop CS6 Extended. I eventually resolved this by reentering my serial number, which thankfully I had on hand.
Lets thank and praise Adobe that we can download the update instead of putting it into the the clowd I installed on my macbook retina the 4. The profiles are gone even though they are still present on my HD same place as before.
Can anyone help me out? My Library was hidden. Restarted LR and voila: everything back in order. RAW issues are usually easy to work around. We would certainly benefit from DNG being standardized, but that just isn't going to happen. I'd like Lightroom to at least support the PNG format just so that I can catalog web images and screenshots along with my other photos.
Only thing I ever use Bridge for anymore. The Lightroom 4. Anyone else having this problem? There are a few instances of the same problem reported in Adobe forums. Just discovered that the problem is related to downloading the update with Firefox. If you download using Internet Explorer, the update works fine under Vista. Same thing happened to me using Google Chrome. Will try it using IE. Thanks a lot for the heads up DanFromNfld! I had the same problem, but it was just a security issue.
Vista had blocked the file because it was a downloaded executable from an untrusted source. I had to right-click the downloaded file and select properties. Then at the bottom of the "General" tab, I had to click "unblock".
After that, it ran OK. Canon 6D support! That didn't take long at all. I thought it would be in a RC or two before they gave final version support to it. But I'll take it! Can't wait to not have to use DPP any longer. Sigma support, well i probably agree with you, but i bet it comes down to priority.
They probably had more urgant things to work on for the release. I would ask Sigma why they don't support DNG. As far as "Wasting resources" between the various raw solutions. Variety is a good thing! I mean common, how many raw formats do they have to support? As far as no Offline update for ACR. I have to ask why does your office have no internet connecion?
Personally i think it's obserd or even childish to block or prevent net access in an office building. People should be treated as resonsible adults, not children. Net access in the office is an assest anyway. Money is the only driver, period. I tried the latest Photoshop update The HiDPI display is a welcome enhancement.
But, from what I've seen so far, the image rendering in ACR 7. ACR is still scaling images to a x grid. Objects will draw 2x larger in ACR. I hope they fix this in a future update. Login Register. BobNL Yes indeed very slow, annoying slow I'd say. Tisdale Okay 7. PicOne Really..? Marcel Mutter Still slower than previous versions from Photoshop. Marcel Mutter It only not seems faster it is actually faster. Working just fine with Windows 7 64 bit with SSD as boot and program file drive. MarekSvantner Hi.. Buy a Mac. MarekSvantner Hi all.. KentbertLee i dont see fuji in the list OldDigiman Damn, I obviously am not buying new cameras fast enough! GaryJP I thought retina displays were supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread? Barney Britton Think it through. Lee Jay It's because Apple didn't choose to make them visible to the OS in the same way any other display, they have to be "special", and everyone needs to adapt their software to Apple's choices, as usual.
It's crazy. Martin Datzinger HowaboutRAW: Please show me tests where the MBP 15" Retina Display falls significantly short in colour gamut and accuracy as well as contrast range, uniformity and viewing angle stability, compared to the very best laptop screens out there.
You need to get unstuck from the resolution prison. Martin Datzinger Eventually turned out that I could never fully resolve banding issues, couldn't stand its weak blackpoint, hated its low resolution of 86dpi or whereabouts, almost never had an image that took advantage of the wider gamut and in the end used the SpectraView maybe 10 times a year.
As for outputting photos to a different medium to show of a monitor; that makes no sense. The Photo Ninja Right I also have Macbook Pro, so I'm not a platform zealot. Mssimo Fixed Issues The following issues have been fixed in Lightroom 4.

Lightroom and ACR have supported camera profiles since the products were first introduced. However, in the early days these were quite primitive and of limited use when editing photos. While many advanced users and educators have long known about the power of camera profiles, the profiles were hidden deep within the Camera Calibration section. The Profile Browser button to the right of the pull-down lets you pick a profile via a thumbnail.
A nice feature of this being the ability to preview the effect in the main content area by hovering your mouse over the the profile thumbnail. You then click on the profile to apply it to the selected image or images.
Again, like the Grid view, hovering over the profile name will allow you to preview the effect. Adobe Lightroom 7. Lightroom and ACR have supported camera profiles since the. Additionally, Adobe Lightroom is built upon the same powerful raw image processing technology that powers Adobe Camera Raw.
The Profile Browser also allows you to create favourites. To make a profile into a favourite, click on the the star at top right corner of thumbnail in Grid view or profile name in List view.
In addition to the Adobe Standard profile, Adobe have developed a range of new and additional camera profiles specifically for raw files. These new profiles provide alternative starting points for raw images, and are intended to expand your raw processing workflow. The new profiles are:. However, given their location i. These profiles made it possible for you to match the colour and tonality of the images displayed on the cameras rear LCD screen.
